Sun King Brewery is featured in this episode of Brewery Highlights. I visit with Clay Robinson one of the co-owners and brewers from Sun King Brewing Co. We talk about how sips of his Grandpa's Lowenbrau turned a 4 year old into a brewmaster and why they are so involved in their community.

Sun King Brewery was hand picked by HopHeadSaid readers to represent the Indianapolis Colts in this season of HopHeadHuddle. If you like NFL football and beer then you need to check out this feature.

Yep, this just happened. Jamie Floyd was making his way through SoCal doing a meet and greet at Barrelhouse 101 and since I am friends with the owner I got the chance to do an interview.

I had a blast and learned about Jamie's checkered homebrewing past and how he became the owner and founding brewer at Ninkasi!

*Note: I was so excited to start the interview that I started talking before the server started recording.

Bold City Brewery is highlighted in this episode and I talk with Brian Miller, Director of Brewery Operations (DBO). We start at the very beginning by talking about his first beer and how that led to homebrewing and how homebrewing helped him become the DBO of Bold City Brewing.

Bold City Brewery was hand picked by HopHeadSaid readers to represent the Jacksonville Jaguars in this season of HopHeadHuddle. If you like NFL football and beer then you need to check out this feature.

<![CDATA[Video blogging using your phone]]>Wed, 24 Apr 2013 19:14:27 GMThttp://www.hopheadsaid.com/6/post/2013/04/video-blogging-using-your-phone.html
Recently, I upgraded my home studio with a Behringer mixing board and Sennheiser microphones. I did this for two reasons. First, I wanted to start producing some professional quality podcasts. The mixing board and microphones make professionally produced audio possible. Secondly, I wanted to be able to go to remote locations and do live broadcasts (video and audio). That is why I upgraded to the USB soundboard so I could run the audio through my computer and directly into my broadcasting/recording software.
I didn't, however, think about how this would create better audio on my phone. The best part is it is so easy to do. As with anything, the higher quality equipment and the better your audio will sound so don't skimp on the microphones. These are Sennheiser e835's and they are wonderful. With a few adaptors, cables and microphones you will be ready to go!
Connect your microphone to and XLR cable, connect cable into one of the Y adapters (repeat for the other microphone if needed) and connect the Y-adapter to the iPhone/XLR adapter. Plug the iPhone/Xlr adapter into your phone and that is it!

<![CDATA[Homebrew Recipe: Saison]]>Sun, 03 Mar 2013 13:56:43 GMThttp://www.hopheadsaid.com/6/post/2013/03/homebrew-recipe-saison.htmlThis beer was originally brewed to commemorate my daughter's first birthday and has become a spring/birthday commemorative beer ever since. It has been modified several times in the last 10 years and as my daughter would say, and I tend to agree with her, it has improved with age just like me!

A show of firsts! This is our first 90 minute show, we stream video for the first time and Joby and I host our first distillery. Alex Villicana, owner of Re:Find distillery, tells us how he turns "extra" grape juice into Brandy, Vodka and Gin. He walks us through the distillation process and lets us taste as many samples as we can handle!
