This was the first Japanese-style horror movie that really turned me on to that genre. The Ring* is also special to me because one of the filming locations was the Camarillo State Hospital -closed down at the time- which is now affectionately know to my family and the rest the world as California State University - Channel Islands.
I didn't have to go far to find the beer pairing for this. In fact the brewery less than 5 miles away from me and is called Institution Ale Company. You can drink any of their beers while enjoying this movie but I would recommend drinking Sedation especially if you find it hard to sit through horror movies.

*The Japanese original, of course there was an original, is named was Ringu and it is a much better movie, in my opinion. If you don't mind subtitles then you have to watch the original version of this movie.
